Teacher

The Intercultural Education Program is extending an exciting invitation to Wits students who have ever considered teaching English abroad. On March 13, from 17:00 to 18:30, representatives from the program will visit Solomon Mahlangu House (SHB5) on East Campus to discuss an opportunity to live, work, and teach in China. The program offers a salary, accommodation, and flights, making it a compelling option for those looking to gain international experience while sharing their language skills.

During the presentation, attendees will learn about the application process, the teaching environment, and the support provided to ensure a smooth transition to life in China. With the promise of a onthly salary and covered travel costs, this program seeks to alleviate many of the financial concerns that can accompany overseas work.

Students who are passionate about cultural exchange will have the chance to engage with representatives who can answer questions about day-to-day life, teaching responsibilities, and any additional requirements for participants.

Beyond the logistical details, the session will explore the personal and professional benefits of teaching English abroad. From developing cross-cultural communication skills to expanding career networks, living in a foreign country can offer invaluable life experiences. The Intercultural Education Program aims to help prospective teachers prepare for this journey, ensuring they feel confident and ready to thrive in a new environment.

Whether you are a seasoned traveler or someone taking your first steps outside your comfort zone, this presentation promises to illuminate the possibilities of working in education overseas. If you have ever dreamed of seeing the world while making a tangible impact on students’ lives, this could be the perfect opportunity to do so.

All interested Wits students are encouraged to attend the session to learn more about the application process, the scope of the program, and the rewarding adventure that awaits in China.
